A typical 2000m race takes about 220 strokes from start to finish. The NCAA allots 20 hours of training/practice for every week that a team is in season. If a team trains for the max allotted hours, by the time they get to a championship race they will have trained for close to 3 hours for each stroke that they take in the race.
